Measuring the flow of the fluid is important for many purposes. But this measurement is not that easy as it looks. It can be done by many methods including the use of vortex flow meter. The vortex flow meter works by passing the fluid whether liquid or gases through the bluff body called the shedder bar so that the disturbances can be created within the fluid. These disturbances lead to the creation of vortices which trail behind the cylinder on both sides of the shedder bar. The vortices movement is directly proportional to the movement of the fluid. There are two types of vortex flow meter:

  1. 1.      Inline Vortex Flow Meter: the inline flow meter works the way it has been discussed above. It is the popular form of the vortex flow meter.
  2. 2.      Insertion Vortex Meter: it works on the principle of moving the fluid through the pipe where the highly sensitive sensors are planted to measure the velocity of the fluid.
