What is Magnetic Flow Meter?

Magnetic flow meter, also technically an electromagnetic flow meter or more commonly just called a mag meter, is one of most common flow meters which follows the Faraday law of electromagnetic induction. A magnetic field is applied to the metering tube, which results in a potential difference proportional to the flow velocity perpendicular to the flux lines. The physical principle at work is electromagnetic induction. The magnetic flow meter requires a conducting fluid, for example, water that contains ions, and an electrical insulating pipe surface, for example, a rubber-lined steel tube.

Magnetic flow meters are made up of sensor, transducer, LCD screen, current and pulse output, alarm signal etc. They are widely used to accurately measure the flow rate of liquids which are electrical conducting throughout industries of petroleum, chemical engineering, pharmacology, papermaking, electric power, environmental protection and so forth.
