Compact Vortex Flow Meter for gas, steam and liquid flow measurement

Vortex flow meter is also given a title of oscillatory flow meters or “vortex shedding flow meters” which are used to size the vibrations or sensation of the downstream twisters caused by an obstacle in the moving watercourse or stream. It can measure the flow rates of a variety of fluids which includes steam, air and water. In simple words fluid flow measurement is the quantification of unpackaged fluid movement. Vortex flow meters can be used to measure various fluids, such as liquids and gasses, and are predominantly more appropriate for measuring steam. This fluid flow can be measured in a variety of ways.

Positive-displacement flow meters gather a fixed volume of fluid and then tally the number of times the volume is filled to measure the specific flow. Many other fluid flow measurement methods depend  on forces bent by the flowing stream as it overwhelms a known restraint, to indirectly calculate flow.  The fluid flow is usually measured by measuring the velocity of fluid over a known area. The frequency of vibration of the vortex shedding is related to the speed of the flow per unit time.

Operating Principle of the Vortex Meter 

The operating principle of the vortex meter is constructed on the statistic that when a flow hits a hindrance, it usually splits and moves around the object to endure on downstream. Vortex whirls separate from the object on alternating edges at the contacting point with the object. This cracking cause’s low pressure whirls on one side and increased pressure on the other side. The process is inverted from one side to another and keeps on alternating. The two whirl frequencies are 180 degrees out of section to each other. And the frequency of this shedding process is directly relative to the velocity of the flow. The vortex meter works well on rationally clean liquids, gas, and mist that do not contain a weighty amount of solid. There is a need that consideration should be paid when dealing with vapors which have lower masses because it produces weak pressure rhythms and therefore the signal may be hard to distinguish.
